I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall, just to see if anyone at that day's editorial meetings dared to say "you know, maybe we're letting ourselves get led around by the nose here."
That is, if there were even any editors or producers left who had the intellectual framework necessary to recognize what a bunch of shills they really are.
It's a sad day when contentious politics are covered with the same detached, sceptical, and tough-minded professionalism usually afforded the local hometown PeeWee Football league roundup on the sports page.
